小田垣の草創は今から遡ること二百八十余年前の享保十九年(1734年)に現在の本社所在地、丹波篠山市立町九番地で小田垣六左衛門が鋳物商を始めたのが今日の源と古書に記されております。

その後年を経て明治元年(1868年)小田垣はとが種物商へと転業したのが今日の業種の前身です。
現在の業に転業してからでも約百五十年もの間種苗店として地元農家の皆様に、又黒豆・小豆問屋として全国各地の皆々様にご贔屓いただき今日に及んでおります。

その間各方面より格別のご引立てをいただき有難く衷心より厚く御礼申し上げます。

篠山のお城が築城されて四百年以上にもなりますが、丹波黒大豆は既にその時代から当地丹波篠山で栽培されていて丹波黒豆を水戸の黄門様にもお召し上がりいただいたとの記録が古文書に残っていますが、それ程古くから栽培されてきた黒豆を先人の努力があってその間幾多の改良を加えて今日の大粒で美味な黒豆に育ちました。

黒豆は嘗ての時代はお正月のお祝いに煮豆としてご利用いただくことがその全てでしたが、今日ではこの黒豆の効能が広く知られてきて、豆腐や納豆・菓子類や飲料その他数々の加工品が開発されて市場を賑わすようになり大変有難いことと喜んでいます。
当店では昔から今も変わらず安心していただける又信頼していただける「本当によい黒豆や小豆」をお届けすべく日夜努めております。

「お取引先様や従業員又この地域にとって無くてはならない会社であり続けたい」をモットーに“良質の黒豆・小豆”で、お客様各位が「マメに(で)、達者で(に)!!」と健康でお過ごし下さるようにと祈りながら、今後とも“粒と味と品質で日本一”と自他共に認められる品をお届けしてお慶びいただけるよう努めて参りますので、格別のご引立てを何卒よろしくお願い申し上げます。

It is written down in old records that what became Odagaki was started when Rokuzaemon Odagaki began a metal casting business at 9 Tatsu-machi, Tamba Sasayama City, the location of our current head office, some 280 years ago in 1734.

Many years later, Hato Odagaki established the predecessor to the modern Odagaki when Hato restructured the business in 1868. For more than 140 years since that time, we have been favored with the patronage of persons and businesses nationwide as a seed shop and, by local farmers, as a black soybean and adzuki bean wholesaler.

I offer my deepest and most sincere thanks to those who have granted us their exceptional favor during this time.

Sasayama Castle was constructed some 400 years ago, but TAMBAGURO black soybeans were already being cultivated in the Tambasasayama area even then. Ancient records note that even the great Mito Komon dined on TAMBAGURO black soybeans, hinting at the effort our predecessors have put into these black soybeans since ancient times. The countless improvements they made over the years resulted in the large and delicious black soybeans we enjoy today.

There was once a time when black soybeans were only used to make boiled beans for celebrating New Year’s. Today, however, I am happy to note that the virtues of our black soybeans are known far and wide, and products such as black soybean tofu, natto, sweets, and beverages have been developed and released to great success in the market. As we have for about 150 years, we at Odagaki strive night and day to provide safe, reliable, and truly good black soybeans and adzuki beans.

Our motto is to continue to be a company essential to our clients, employees, and the local committee and our aim is to help each and every one of our customers to be “mame ni, tassha de (“healthy and fit,” a play on the Japanese word “mame,” which can mean both “healthy” and “beans”) via our quality black soybeans and adzuki beans. We will continue striving to delight by providing products deemed far and wide as the best in flavor and quality in Japan, and ask for your continued and exceptional patronage in turn.
